A HFU second-year postgraduate student Zhou Biao’s academic paper “Gaussian Process Image Classification Based on Multi-layer Convolution Kernel Function” is recently published in the international journal Neurocomputing online. Zhou is presently a member of the Visual Computing Research Group of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. His in-school supervisors are Wang Xiaofeng and Xu Lixiang.

Neurocomputing, an authoritative international academic journal, focuses on the application of artificial intelligence and neural network, whose impact factor of 2021 is 5.719. Zhou’s paper proposes a multi-layer convolution kernel Gaussian process classification model based on in-depth learning, and verifies its classification accuracy through public image datasets.

The publication of this paper signifies a new stage of postgraduate training in our university and further improves HFU’s influence in the field of visual computing research, which is a fruit of HFU’s practice of attaching great importance to the cultivation of postgraduates as high-level applied talents.
