On the evening of May 17th , Applied Engineering Mathematics A, lectured by HFU’s Professor Chen Xiu and Zhang Xia (School of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data), was launched for review via the Rain Classroom platform .

Launched in 2021 by the Online Education Research Center of Chinas Ministry of Education, the “Project Gold” is a nationwide plan to develop more excellent courses and lectures. Upon strict evaluation, Applied Engineering Mathematics A, together with the other 96 courses, was selected from over ten thousand state-level or provincial-level excellent undergraduate courses, into the first batch of the project, which is a great fruit of the HFU math teaching team for their 15-year reform.

With both online and offline teaching modes and the feature of “MOOC + flipped classroom + self learning + multidimensional evaluation”, the very course re-designed the roles of teachers and students for the sake of students’ intrinsic motivation and enthusiasm, and critical thinking ability. From 2006, the teaching team, referring to the German innovated teaching mode, has optimized and re-organized the contents of related courses from “discipline-oriented” to “program-oriented”, for deepening the reform on modularizing the courses contents. In 2010 the team compiled the textbooks (Advanced Mathematics I & II) and modified the books by adding plenty of applied cases of math ten years later.

In the past 15 years, the math teaching team won three first prizes and one grand prize of Anhui Provincial Teaching Achievement Award.

HFU has now developed into a pilot for Chinas Smart Education Platform. Great opportunities lay hidden beneath the challenges brought by information technology, in which HFU math teaching team will shoulder their due responsibilities for a better prospect.
